Intermittent Kilns Electric and Gas Fired

Intermittent kilns are specially designed for firing small production runs of different shapes and sizes. The flexibility of this type of kiln is enormous due to the insulating materials used in the lining, e.g. ceramic fibre. The firing cycle may vary according to the type of material that will be fired (e.g. terracotta, porcelain, sanitaryware, earthenware, chemical or salted stoneware and technical ceramics) at temperatures that may go up to 1800ºC.

The high level of technology employed in both design and insulation, as well as the use of the most updated firing and control systems, enables FORNOCERÂMICA to produce all sort of customised kilns.

Still, different types of doors may be installed (with manual or automatic motion) according to the requirements of each client.

In all FORNOCERÂMICA's intermittent kilns, very sophisticated control and command systems are installed; the computerised control panel is one example. There is also the possibility, in case of intermittent kilns of larger dimensions, to install a complete half or fully automatic systems for the kiln cars motion.

Electric kilns usually have a capacity between 20 litres and 5 m3, and are used mainly in countries where electric power is available at relatively low cost.

The smaller kilns are used in artists' studios and ceramic ateliers, laboratories, schools, training centres, and testing purposes. Those with higher capacity, may be installed in small ceramic plants, for smaller productions.

Control Panel

This is an area where FORNOCERAMICA also shows its know-how.

The control panel equipped with colour screen computer has been developed by FORNOCERAMICA, using the G.I.F. (Integrated Fornoceramica Managment System), a system which is in constant evolution and devlopment, and which can be adapted to the specific reqirements of each kiln/client.

On the monitor the user may access at any time all the required information. It is possible to look at and control, according to the selected program, the kiln temperature, the kiln pressure, the kiln atmosphere, and the gas/air ratio.

A single button automatic "starter" and an automatic return to firing after a shut off due to energy failure (adjusting immediately to actual kiln temperature), are two of the possible features with this control panel (G.F.I.).

If necessary, the user can print all this data by using a simple printer. For kilns requiring a basic system, there are other types of panel using microprocessors which offer guaranteed trouble free performances.
